Along with acting as a General Practitioner, he has interests in both sexual health and mental health counselling.

The Healthy Bear

Dr George Forgan-Smith is a family doctor based in Melbourne. He is also an active member of the bear community with a strong interest in male health, mental health and health promotion.

His site, Healthy Bear is full of helpful information, not only about matters of interest to the bears among us, but of mature male health in general.

He also feels that a radio interview he did with a married gay man may be of interest to the men at GAMMA. You can play it at 'MP3 file called Mark'.

Testing Guidelines for STIs

At a meeting on late in 2012, Dr Ercel Oszer, our friendly GP from Holdsworth House in Oxford Street, gave us some valuable pointers on the practicalities of sexual checks for gay men, along with helpful answers to members' questions.

The Drama Down Under

In spite of the jokey name, this is a serious website about the commonly transmitted STI's experienced by gay men (HIV positive or negative).

Please note that the site does contain explicit language, information and images of a sexual nature, which may inadvertently cause offence to some people. Children should only view this website with adult supervision.

The Facts

Genital herpes is much more easily spread than HIV, and has alarming and uncomfortable symptoms. To be fully informed about them may not set your mind at rest, but this site also covers visiting a doctor, treatments, and common misconceptions about the infection.
